The observation survey assesses the functionality of the clinic based on space, condition & cleanliness, availability of condoms & lubricants, & whether relevant posters are visibly on display.
Tools
The facility-based tools are divided into different surveys, to be collected at the clinic through observations, and talking to healthcare providers and healthcare users. A technical guide to the tools explains more about the questions in each of the surveys.
The community-based tools allow us to deep dive into the challenges people experience, capturing the experiences and insights of both of those accessing public health services and of those who are not currently interacting with any clinic, both of whom have critical information about what is and is not working.
Patient Survey
The patient survey assesses waiting times, staffing, staff attitudes, stockouts, TB infection control. For PLHIV we assess ARV refill length, service quality, privacy & confidentiality, & viral load understanding.
Facility Manager Survey (Long)
The Facility Manager survey assesses facility manager perspectives about staffing, infrastructure & space, HIV linkage & retention, TB services, & programmes that target key populations, youth & men.

The survey for trans and gender diverse people assesses the state of healthcare for trans and gender diverse people including staff attitudes, discrimination, and the accessibility of trans specific services.
Medicines Survey
The medicines survey assesses the frequency and type of stockouts and/or shortages of medicines, vaccines, and dry stock at the clinic.
Individual Testimony Survey
The individual testimony tool is used if someone has a specific personal story about the impact of bad healthcare services.
